After making an eternal promise to the Jews with a Covenant, why would Jesus need to come?
Jesus is the Messiah. One way to think about this is that man has a tendency to bungle things. Sometimes, even with the clearest of instructions. The Jews were interpreting what they felt was the Law and given to them by Moses and the Prophets.
Jesus came as God's way of saying "you didn't quite get the Spirit of what I was saying. Let me send you a messenger to try to explain this once again to you."
Jesus came saying 'forget the previous laws, the only two that matter is to love God with all your Heart and love your neighbor as yourself.'
Simple message.
Peace Be With You.
